About Me: The Passion & Purpose

Hi, I’m Danilo Caruso, and my story begins on the breathtaking island of Sicily, Italy, where I was born and raised. Health, fitness, and the art of movement have always been woven into the fabric of my life. Today, I’m incredibly grateful to channel that lifelong passion into my work

at Pilates Anatomy, where I get to help people transform their bodies and lives through the practice of Pilates.

My fitness journey started early—at just three years old—when I took my first Judo class under the guidance of my aunt, a world champion who inspired me with her strength and grace.

That early experience sparked a curiosity for all kinds of physical activity. I explored and experimented with different sports, but it wasn’t until I turned fourteen that I discovered my true love: dance.

Dance became my language, my way of expressing and understanding the human body.

Pursuing this passion led me to train at two of Europe’s most prestigious art universities:

Codarts in Holland and the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in the UK.  My career as a professional dancer has been a whirlwind of unforgettable performances and creative collaborations. I’ve worked as a lead dancer for renowned choreographers and had the privilege of performing on the iconic stages of the National Theatre, Royal Opera House and Sadler’s Wells, touring across the UK and bringing dance to life for audiences far and wide.

It was during my dance career that I discovered the transformative power of Pilates. In 2009, at the age of twenty-one, I became a certified Pilates instructor. I had seen firsthand how essential injury prevention and body conditioning were for staying at the top of my game. Pilates wasn’t just a fitness routine for me—it became a life-changing practice that kept me strong, balanced, and resilient. Inspired to share its benefits, I founded Pilates Anatomy to help others unlock their physical potential and embrace a healthier way of moving and living.

In 2019, I deepened my expertise by completing a Full Comprehensive Classical Pilates training course, an intense one-year program that covered every piece of Pilates equipment.

From the Mat and Reformer to the Cadillac, Trapeze, Ladder Barrel, Wunda Chair, and Tower, I became skilled in the full Classical Pilates repertoire. With over 10,000 hours of hands-on practice and more than a decade of teaching experience, I’ve developed a personalized approach that empowers my clients to achieve their individual fitness goals.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients, from professional athletes to those recovering from injuries. Each experience has deepened my appreciation for how adaptable and effective Pilates can be. But what motivates me most is witnessing the subtle yet profound transformations in people’s lives—not just in how they move, but in how they feel and connect with their own bodies.

Pilates continues to teach me that fitness is not a one-size-fits-all journey. It’s about meeting each person where they are and guiding them toward greater strength, flexibility, and self-awareness. As a teacher, I am committed to creating a space where people feel supported and inspired to grow, one movement at a time.

If you’re curious about exploring this journey, I’d love to welcome you into the world of Pilates Anatomy. It’s not just about physical training; it’s about discovering what your body is capable of and finding joy in the process. Your body is your greatest investment, and I can’t wait to help you discover the power it holds.
